MISSION VIEJO -- Tim Bourquin and Jim Sugarman, co-founders of Day Traders of USA, the nation's largest day-trading association, reacted to Lhe North American Securities Administration (NASAA) negative report on day trading.
"Like most businesses, owners will probably lose money when they first begin. However, with education and sound money management, day traders can increase their probabilities of success," said Bourquin.
While NASAA is relating day trading to coin tossing and gambling, Bourquin and Sugarman are hosting an expo (the first of its kind) to educate and address specific needs and interests. The International Daytrading Expo will be held at the Ontario Convention Center Sept. 25-26.
The expo is expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees and nearly 100 industry exhibitors. In breakout sessions, industry experts and daytrading gurus will discuss issues, trading tactics and future challenges of day trading into the new millennium.
Workshops on topics ranging from technical analysis to execution systems will educate and offer new resources for the beginner, part-time and full-time stock, options and futures day trader.
Sugarman added, "This is an opportunity for day traders to network offline and get the beginnings of a solid education from industry experts like Oliver Velez, our keynote speaker."
Velez is the co-founder of Pristine.com, a leading Internet educational site for active electronic traders. The company includes the flagship product The Pristine Day Trader.
"I am pleased to be part of this historic expo," said Velez. "Tim and Jim have put together a solid program that I think will greatly benefit all those who are or want to become online traders."
